Bird Camp Day 8

Wednesday was a very exciting day at camp. We went on a field trip to the Riverwoods Animal Hospital in Provo. Heather, a nurse at the animal hospital, showed us many things at the hospital. We even got to meet some of the animal residents of the hospital which include an Australian Umbrella Cockatoo, a South African Tortise, and a Blue-Gold Macaw Parrot from the Rainforest. The children especially enjoyed holding the Cockatoo, who liked to dance and say hi.

Many of the children also enjoyed playing animal hospital during centers on Wednesday.

Daily Schedule

9:30-10:15 - Learning Centers
Students will independently choose different learning activities. There will be a daily art center, library center, math center, drama center, writing center, and research center.

10:15-10:30 - Snack/Storytime
A small snack will be provided each day while the teacher reads a story.

10:30-11:15 - Project Work
This time will include direct instruction on topics we are studying, experiments, guest speakers, and other guided learning activities.

11:15-11:30 - Science Journals
Each day, the students will have an opportunity to write or draw something they are learning about in their science journals.
